Additional Linksys WRT300N Wireless-N Broadband Router Information

The Wireless-N Broadband Router is really three devices in one box. First, theres the WirelessAccess Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. Theres also a built-in 4-portfull-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Routerfunction ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internetconnection. With Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great withstandard Wireless-G and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N,the router can increase the throughput even more by using twice as much radio band, yieldingspeeds up to 12 times as fast as standard Wireless-G. But unlike other speed-enhancedtechnologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds.

What Customers Say About Linksys WRT300N Wireless-N Broadband Router:

The problems that I've had were more closely linked to the linksys service than the actual router, since they would update my router without my knowledge and then I would lose my internet connection. I forgot to mention this but whenever I called linksys customer service, I was greeted nicely and my problems were resolved rather quickly, within less than five hours. Even though I didn't buy this router from amazon.com, I have had relative success with linksys and this router. Overall, I would definately buy another linksys router as they provide, for the most part, reliable service. I can only recall one bad experience with this router. The internal adapted, which I also bought at the same time as I purchased the router, has had no trouble at all. However.I have had to call linksys at least 5 times since I've had this router about issues related to the router and the linksys service.

In the end I bought a Belkin that has worked perfectly (actually it exceeded my expectations). I had to refresh several times before it would even load the page; and after that there were always all sorts of errors.Conclution----------I even put DD-Wrt on this to make sure that the firmware was not the problem; but to no avail. Web pages loaded fast and reliably when using wireless, that is unless you were trying to access a page that was SSL 128 bit encryped (Pages for checking out of an online purchase or accessing your bank account).

I suppose I will just break its many flaws into sections.Wired-----The router I got worked when wired; to a point. However when attempting to load a web page the router took approximately 15 minutes per page. This is by far the worst router I have ever owned.

Wireless--------I used this in conjunction with an Intel 4965AGN mini PCIe card. I believe that Linksys has lost a formerly loyal customer (10+years); and Belkin has won one. I was able to access the router just fine.

I could ping, login, and edit settings.

I also tried the WRT150N and its marginally better with 15 meg of memory versus the WRT300N 32 megs of memory. That should tell you something when the company itself admits its that N does not work on it. I smell class-action suit here. I got this router on the assumption that Linksys had a reputation from their earlier wireless B & G routers. Both belong in its proper place, in the garbage. This router does not do N under any circumstances. What a mistake. Even Linksys recommends that it should only be set to B & G and even that is also problematic.

That is my only complaint. This was a referb, and it works great. The led lights on it are very dim and difficult to see.

Then it quit broadcasting at all. Now I'm trying to get Linksys to go beyond their warranty to fix this stupid thing.

What a waste of time and money. And my guess is that I'll be buying another brand soon.

With the second baby sleeping in our office, we needed a router to be able to access the internet after bedtime so we could carry on with essentials--you know, bills, work, email, Netflix. So, we borrowed another router from a friend, and BOOM--worked perfectly.

Thanks, Cisco-Linksys. But six months after installing this router, and it set up very easily out of the box, it started having a spotty signal--some times it would show up, most times it wouldn't.

We IM'd the Linksys support people and eventually got told it was our service provider's fault (TW)--but the router delivered a fine wired connection to the very desktop I was using to IM Linksys.
